OUR STORY

The Business Book Club was founded with the purpose to share knowledge. Knowledge is the start of change, an inevitable process of business and life, and one can obtain it through various means. Books are our favourite way and what is better than to have a conversation with the author. Sharing knowledge through questions and answers helps us understand how each of us can affect change in a positive way. The Business Book Club meets monthly where we invite an author to showcase their book and share their knowledge. Through conversations with the author, we grow our leadership capability by understanding how we can change our business environments.

OUR PURPOSE

We do not charge an entry fee to our events but ask that a pre-loved business or educational book is donated. These books are collected and then donated to a needy library or community in less privileged areas. We currently donate books to The Signature Library, Soweto, and are continuously looking at alternative libraries/ communities who would benefit from The Business Book Club members' donations.

HOW IT WORKS

Once or twice a month between 19h00 and 21h00, The Business Book Club hosts an event in Johannesburg (varying venues around Sandton and Fourways) and Cape Town. A guest author is invited to showcase their book and share their knowledge. Through conversation with the author, interaction with the audience, and networking with entrepreneurs, knowledge is gathered on how to grow and change in the business environment and to gain leadership skills.

Entrance Fee: a pre-loved (business) book donation.

Nthabi reveals the truth about her journey in design and the pitfalls and challenging terrain she had to manoeuvre herself through, determined for a clearer, more forgiving way and understanding of her chosen field. As one of the first Black and very recognizable faces of Interior Design, Nthabi was thrust into the limelight from the very start of her career. This is a book that not only allows the reader an inside peek into the behind-the-scenes of the glamorous world in design and décor, but into a career once never considered as an option for a young girl born in Soweto.

Join Business Coach, Speaker and International award-winning Facilitator, Jacques Velleman, as he interviews veteran News Anchor and broadcaster, Collen Lemawane about his new book: Why do small businesses fail?

Collen is a business news anchor on SABC News channel 404. He is also an author of “Why are you broke when there’s so much information about money”. He is a motivational speaker and a program director.

THE FOUNDER

Jacques is an experienced Business Coach and Professional Speaker, helping leaders transform their companies’ teams into successful enterprises in today’s competitive world. In 2012 he founded Centred, a business coaching company using a mixture of business psychology and numbers to increase performance and success rates for CEO’s and their Teams.

At the beginning of 2017, Jacques founded The Business Book Club, which is an extension of his passion for books and his desire to share knowledge with those less privileged.  He is a part time lecturer with the LMI Business School in the field of Strategy and has delivered various keynote presentations and seminars on the subjects of Business Strategy and Human Potential.
